The 5 Ingredients of a Successful Employee Training

How to Execute an Effective Training Event

If you’re one of the people who already understand the importance of training your employees, we bet you’ve already done research on the best ways to hold an effective training. How about an article full of the 5 must-do’s during a training?

Visual Aids

You can never go wrong with visual aids. Actually, scratch that: you can, but only if you try too hard. Things like too much text on slides are a no-no, because your goal should be for your employees to focus on what you’re saying, rather than on your slides.
However, if done right, they help them visualize your words and thus enable them to remember for a longer period of time.

Breaks

I’ve personally attended trainings where we got no break for 4 hours: you can imagine how everyone felt in the end.
Ask yourself: do you want to exhaust your employees so much that they regret ever attending the training, or do you want them to feel good throughout and when it’s over?
Make sure you have short breaks every hour: it can just be a 5-minute time out where they’re supposed to find something under their chairs or massage each other’s backs. Anything to get them moving!

Demonstrations

As you know, people learn much easier when they’re shown something rather than when they’re told something. Things like role-playing during training sessions are essential if you want that knowledge to stick for a longer time: not to mention to make sure they understand it.

Interactivity

This is by far the most important ingredient in your employee training. Did you know that you can do quick quizzes after every component of the training to keep your employees engaged? Plus, testing is an objective way to determine whether you’ve achieved your training goals or not: and this is where a system like CloudVOTE can do wonders for you.

Nutrition

Surprisingly, this is something very few training sessions have. The truth is, if you don’t provide your employees with snacks and drinks that keep their energy levels up, you’re just going to make it harder both on yourself and on them.
Some good options are water instead of sodas, as well as fruit and veggies: just make sure everything is cut up nicely and ready to eat! Rae energy bars are always a good idea too: not to mention delicious.
And, of course, don’t forget coffee and tea!
