NAACP and AEAONMS are Utilizing TownVOTE at their Annual Meetings

Despite summer being a slower season in the world of electronic voting, for the past three years we’ve had the pleasure of handling the voting sessions of two high-profile clients, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, (NAACP) and the Ancient Egyptian Arabic order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (AEAONMS). Each year the collaboration has been a resounding success, with the NAACP utilizing TownVOTE to achieve a clear result while voting on various motions and articles during their annual national convention. Similarly, we’ve helped revamp the inefficient voting process of the AEAONMS, allowing all audience members to vote as a group right from their chair. With both meetings in August going off without a hitch, this year continues the trend of successful collaboration we’ve shared thus far.

The 117th NAACP Annual Convention in Chicago brought together delegates from across the country to discuss and vote on policy resolutions that will help shape the organization’s advocacy priorities for the coming year. During the convention legislative sessions, delegates cast votes on a wide range of issues affecting communities nationwide. These resolutions help establish the NAACP’s policy and program agenda moving forward. [naacpdayton.org], [ebs.publicnow.com]

Among the resolutions considered and voted on by delegates were:

  • Ensuring Civil Rights Protections in the Development, Deployment, and Governance of Artificial Intelligence, addressing the growing impact of AI technologies on civil rights and ensuring equitable oversight and accountability.
  • Recognizing Domestic Violence as a National Public Health Crisis and a Civil & Human Rights Crisis, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive responses to domestic violence and its disproportionate effects on vulnerable communities.
  • Mandatory Accountability for Assault, Abuse, and Exploitation by Individuals in Positions of Authority, calling for stronger protections and accountability measures when authority is abused.
  • Police Accountability and Financial Responsibility for Misconduct, seeking greater accountability and transparency in cases involving misconduct by law enforcement personnel.

These resolutions reflect the breadth of issues being addressed by the NAACP, from emerging technology and civil rights to public safety, justice, and community well-being. The floor voting process played a critical role in ensuring delegates had the opportunity to directly influence the organization’s policy direction through a transparent and democratic decision-making process.

We were honored to support the convention voting process and witness delegates actively participating in discussions and decisions on issues that will help shape future advocacy efforts nationwide.

AEAONMS Meeting

From August 14th-20th, The Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (AEAONMS) convened for their 115th Imperial Session in Tampa, with TownVOTE being the de-facto voting system used for the two business sessions – Daughters’ and Nobles’ elections.

We started working with the AEAONMS in 2024 in New Orleans, where the organization sought to overhaul their inefficient voting process with electronic voting. Prior to 2024, members had to vote individually at designated computers, forcing each voter to wait in line for their turn to vote. This resulted in a lengthy, drawn-out voting process where the majority of time was spent waiting for the votes to be cast and processed.

After switching to TownVOTE, voters now had the ability to vote together as a group by simply casting their vote with a button press on their handheld voting devices. With the system collecting and processing the 1,500+ votes within a matter of minutes, AEAONMS are now able to preserve the anonymity and integrity from previous voting processes, while greatly cutting down on the time spent for members to cast their votes. In their own words:

“The live voting feature not only saves valuable time but members appreciate the clarity and transparency the system provides, and we’ve noticed much higher participation and energy in our sessions.”
